About the Mission, a Statement by the Author

I have no idea what I’m doing building an entire game, I seriously should have started off my modding career with something much smaller.  I always dreamed of building my own game much the same as any dreamer hopes to create something extraordinary one some day within their lifetime.  Yet here we are the pawns of circumstance.

Like most lads growing up in the early 90’s, I became hooked on video games at an early age.  I forget how it was I found my way to doom, but after playing it through I thought that nothing could top an experience like this game. That was eight years ago and sadly, I’ve never moved far beyond the scope of a FPS or games made after 1998.   There’s something unique about classic sprite basted First person shooters that I’ve always been a fan of.  I still don’t know what it is that keeps me hooked all these years later.

So why am I building foreverhood under these conditions? Perhaps I can answer that question by proving a point. As the staff of modern games grows ever larger, the people required to build content for older titles has been drastically reduced.   Through the wonder of time, many strategies and building process for creating content on older technology have become readily available. Therefore, building a game on “classic” technology can now be accomplished with as little as a single developer who is merely building new content threw well known methods.  Furthermore, they can expand on them.

Case in point: I don’t need a high end gaming engine to build a good looking game, nor do I need a team of people (though volunteers are always appreciated) to bring a game to life.  All it takes is a little imagination, a lot of determination and enough coffee to kill a bull to make the game I always dreamed of playing.  Welcome to my dream ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Foreverhood.
